The ceramic cartridge is the heart of a mixing tap: a moving and a fixed sintered disc slide on lapped faces to open, close and blend. The lapping quality — flatness, roughness and width of the sealing band — decides the two things a user actually feels. First the torque: an oily-poor, coarsely lapped or over-wide band pushes handle torque from 0.3 N·m new to well above 1 N·m within months, and the tap feels stiff in the hand. Second the sealing life: micro-grooves wear through the sealing band, hot water cross-leaks into cold, and the tap drips even fully closed. Incoming inspection is usually a pressure test and a look at the finish. The full torque-angle curve, wear decay over tens of thousands of cycles and the post-cycle leak re-test have no number at all.
Cycle life, sealing and flow to GB 18145 (ceramic disc mixing taps), EN 817 as the counterpart basis; wetted parts assessed to GB/T 17219. Torque limits, cycle counts and wear criteria can follow the customer standard, sampling to GB/T 2828.
Six stations running hot-cold continuously deliver a cartridge history from new to tens of thousands of cycles within a week. The “pressurise and look” spot check becomes a decay report with torque curves, wear comparison and leak re-tests. Incoming cartridges, tap-level feel matching and after-sales stiff-handle and drip complaints share one bench.
