The wear ring (sealing ring) of a centrifugal or circulator pump is the precision clearance between impeller and casing. Every bit of added clearance adds internal leakage from the high-pressure side back to the suction, and the H-Q curve slides down and to the left. The process is invisible: the casing looks new, the motor current reads normal, the user only notices “the water is not what it used to be”. The line checks a wear ring with a caliper on inner and outer diameter and releases it within tolerance. How the clearance pairs up once fitted, how long it lasts in sandy water, how far the curve drops after wear — none of the three has a number, so a “performance decay” complaint ends in a whole-pump replacement.
GB/T 3216 (rotodynamic pumps – hydraulic performance acceptance tests, grades 1, 2 and 3) as the performance basis, with IEC 60335-2-41 and GB 4706.1 covering the safety side; clearance criteria, sand concentrations and wear-rate limits can follow the customer standard, sampling to GB/T 2828.
Six stations on closed-loop regulated supply align clearance measurement, performance curves and volumetric efficiency in one run, replacing “two diameters and release” with a wear-part report built on a clearance-to-performance table. Incoming rings, final pump re-tests and after-sales decay disputes share one bench, grounding an unspecific “weaker than before” complaint in millimetre-level data.
