The problem

Load-bearing performance of a domestic stainless steel sink is a numeric requirement: a block at the centre of the bowl, a 1274N static load held for one hour, and after release the bottom deformation must stay below 3mm with no sagging, cracking or de-brazing. Stacking weights or sandbags by hand gives an inaccurate load and an off-centre point, so the deformation figure is hard to sign off, and every new bowl shape needs a new support frame.

Capability

A servo actuator loads in closed loop to 1274N (about 130kg) at the centre of the bowl through the standard 100x100x20mm wooden block, which spreads the force and avoids local indentation affecting the reading. The procedure follows the standard: measure l1, the distance from the diagonal intersection of the bowl bottom to the sink top plane, load for one hour, unload, measure l2 at the same point, and take l2 minus l1 as the bottom deformation against the 3mm limit. The sink sits on a three-side adjustable support so all four edges are properly supported and level, covering bowls 400-600mm wide. The carrier frame measures 1200x800x1000mm and runs on industrial castors, so it is wheeled under the loading frame for a test and doubles as a display or storage stand afterwards. A 40-series aluminium profile display table is flat within 0.5mm with 40-100cm length and 30-60cm width adjustment, so samples are not scratched. A PLC with servo and load cell shows and records load, hold time and displacement on the touch screen and exports records by batch. The machine is compact enough for a laboratory or an in-line sampling position, and a change of bowl shape needs only a support adjustment, not a new machine.
