The problem

Inlet hoses and water-circuit parts of washing machines and dishwashers work at modest pressures, but water hammer and pulsation occur daily; a burst hose in a customer home costs far more than one pressure test. Hand pumping gives an uncontrolled ramp rate, hoses are tested one by one, and neither pressure nor time is recorded, so batches cannot be compared.

Capability

Three stations test simultaneously with synchronised pressure control. Test pressure is settable anywhere from 0.5 to 4.5MPa (system maximum 6MPa) and acquired by high-accuracy pressure sensors. Pressurising uses an inverter-driven high-pressure pump with an adjustable ramp of 0.1-0.2MPa/s: air is first purged from the water meter and piping, then clean water is pressurised, and pumping stops automatically when the set pressure is reached, in the sequence the standards describe. Test time is settable from 1 min to 99 min 59 s with automatic stop, and the leakage value is monitored during the hold - beyond the set limit the specimen is judged failed automatically. Samples sit in an immersion tank of about 600 x 600 x 900 mm so deformation and leaking bubbles are directly visible. Three interface sizes are provided, covering hose inner diameters from 4 to 38.5 mm, so inlet hoses, drain hoses and water-circuit assemblies of washers, dishwashers and water purifiers all fit the same machine. A touch screen with PLC controls pressure, time and judgement, keeps the data queryable and batches comparable; over-pressure or leakage stops the machine with an alarm. The medium is room-temperature tap water on a normal AC220V 50Hz supply.
