Rice-cooker complaints cluster: rice comes out half-cooked, the pan scorches, and in the worst cases a boiled-dry pot never cuts off; other units trip early and serve raw rice. Every one of these points at the magnetic thermostat limiter, which actuates near the Curie point of its sensing magnet. Spring fatigue, magnet decay and welded contacts each move the actuation temperature a few degrees — the few degrees between fluffy rice and a burned layer on the pan. The line installs the limiter, presses it once, hears the click and moves on; what the actuation point does after tens of thousands of cook cycles with steam and starchy water seeping in is unknown until the household smells scorching.
