The problem

One pinhole in a tank weld becomes a water-damage complaint three years later, and the repair means opening a finished wall. Manual leak testing - hand plugs, a hand valve and soapy water - takes fifteen minutes per tank with pressure set by feel and bubbles judged by eye, so one missed tank multiplies the loss forty-fold downstream.

Capability

The tester checks weld seam tightness of water heater tank blanks, taking samples up to 495mm diameter x 600mm long (about 80L) in a frame about 1600x800x1850mm. Adaptable tanks: 300-500mm diameter, up to 600mm long (to customer drawings), 304 stainless 0.8-2.2mm wall, up to 50kg. Test pressure 0.45+/-0.01MPa with at least 3 minutes of observation; pass means no leakage or bubbles. Operation: the tank is rolled alongside on a transfer cart, placed by hand, then two matched clamp sets automatically plug and seal the openings; solenoid valves apply air for the visual check, failed parts go to a water dip to locate the leak, and good and bad parts are sorted away. Rise, lower and shift motions finish within one minute; charging and venting are controlled from the panel in manual or automatic mode with freely adjustable pressure. One independent tank group auto-tops the water level (level switch) and alarms on low air pressure (pressure switch). Pneumatic actuation throughout, PLC and HMI control. Working air 0.2-0.6MPa adjustable (air supply by customer), supply AC220V 50/60Hz, water 0.2-0.5MPa.
